Once you've found the desired backup, simply click on the associated action to open the details and restore the target item.

This interface allows you to restore a Microsoft 365 item. Only one item can be restored at a time.

For Teams and SharePoint backups, restoration is done directly to the original location.Note: You can search by user name using the filter in the "Name" column.

Restoration Limitations

This section outlines the limitations of "Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Teams".

  • Modern authentication with legacy protocols allowed is not supported for data restoration with Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Teams.
  • Microsoft Teams data can only be restored within the original organization.
  • Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Teams does not modify team owner roles during restoration. For example, if you back up your organization, then change a team member's role from Member to Owner, Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Teams will not reset their role to Member during restoration.
  • Restoration of OneNote notebooks from Microsoft Teams data backups for organizations using modern authentication with application-only is not supported.
  • When restoring a channel tab, Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Teams does not retain the link between a published file link in the tab and the file itself. You'll need to manually re-link the tab to the file post-restoration. This limitation does not apply when restoring an entire team.
  • Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Teams does not restore posts to their original location in the team channel. Instead, it exports posts to an HTML file, creates a separate tab in the original channel, and attaches the HTML file to this tab.
  • If a user has never opened the Files tab of a team channel in Microsoft Teams before the data backup, files from this tab will not appear in Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Teams.
  • Before restoring posts, make sure the web app is unblocked for your organization and for the user account used to restore Microsoft Teams data.
  • When restoring a channel, Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Teams cannot rename the channel.
  • Before restoring team data for a tenant organization using modern application-only authentication, ensure the user account for authorization has access to the SharePoint root site of this tenant organization.
  • Microsoft Teams messages cannot be restored directly in Teams.
  • Before restoring team data with Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Teams or team sites with Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SharePoint for a tenant organization using modern application-only authentication, ensure the user account for authorization has access to the tenant's SharePoint root site.
